What is full-time enrollment?
Enrollment in a minimum of 12 units each quarter; 15 units recommended.
What is minimum progress?
Passing a minimum of 36 units in three consecutive quarters in residence. Failure to meet this requirement will result in students being placed on probation. Students are subject to dismissal if they fail to pass a minimum of 32 units in three consecutive quarters in residence. Student progress is monitored each quarter by the Office of Student Services.
What are the minimum GPA requirements?
A cumulative GPA of 2.0 (C) is required in all work attempted at the University of California, exclusive of courses in UCLA Extension and those graded Passed/Not Passed. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 (C) is also required in all upper division courses in the major taken at the University, as well as in all courses applied toward general education.
What are the quarterly enrollment deadlines for the School of the Arts and Architecture?
Quarterly enrollment deadlines are strictly enforced:
- Last day to DROP impacted courses: Friday of second week
- Last day to ADD courses: Friday of third week
- Last day to DROP NON-IMPACTED courses: Friday of fourth week
- Last day to CHANGE GRADING BASIS (optional pass/no pass): Friday of sixth week
How do I double major?
A double major consists of both a primary and secondary major. Your primary major must be in the School of the Arts and Architecture. To apply for a double major, you must complete and submit a petition for Change of Academic Program. The petition must be approved by both departments offering each major and submitted to the Office of Student Services for final consideration. Email

. If you are planning on taking GE courses in the summer at another college/university, you must determine whether the courses are transferable. For coursework to be completed at California community colleges or California State universities, check online using ASSIST. (For other schools contact the Office of Student Services.) Compare course descriptions for potential transfer courses to course descriptions of the School of the Arts and Architecture's GE course requirements, then consult with one of the counselors in the Office of Student Services. Counselors can verify that the course(s) you want to transfer will satisfy a GE or major requirement.

Please note that concurrent enrollment at UCLA and another college or university is not allowed. However, you may enroll at another institution when you are not enrolled at UCLA. Schedule an appointment with a Student Services counselor to discuss this option. Seniors must abide by Senior Residency Requirements:
Students are considered to be in residence when enrolled in classes at UCLA with a major in the School of the Arts and Architecture. Of the last 45 units completed toward a bachelor's degree, 35 units must be earned in residence in the School of the Arts and Architecture.
Is it possible to enroll in more than 20 units in a quarter?
To enroll in more than 20 units per quarter, the following requirements must be met: (1) a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and (2) a GPA of 3.0 in the previous quarter with all courses passed. No student may take more than 20 units during their first quarter at UCLA. You must contact the

Does the School of the Arts and Architecture have an Honors Program similar to the College of Letters and Science?
No. However, eligible arts students may take honors courses and if you have a second major in the College of Letters and Science, you may be eligible to participate in their Honors Program. Students in the School of the Arts and Architecture may receive Dean's Quarterly Honors and Latin Honors at graduation.
