Building Design & Construction
magazine’s 40 Under 40 is a national list of up-and-coming stars in the building design and construction industry. The two Los Angeles
representatives named were Tania Van Herle ’95, who works for Harley Ellis Devereaux, an architecture and engineering firm, and Patrick Tighe ’93.

Works by Katy Bowen ’96 were on display this spring in “Consumerism & Product” #1, a two-person show at Gallery Revisited, Los Angeles.

Photographs by Bia Gayotto ’96 were shown at Haus Gallery, Pasadena, last fall. Her work was also included in a group show, “A Power of Expansion,” at 4-F in Los Angeles earlier this year.

Choreographer, dancer and teacher Sophiline Cheam Shapiro ’97 has been awarded the 2006 Nikkei Asia Prize for Culture by Nihon Keizai Shimbum, Inc. The prizes, which are awarded each year, shine a spotlight on outstanding individuals who have contributed to the stability, development and enrichment of people’s lives in Asia.

David Beaudry ’98 has taught in the UCLA Department of Theatre and freelances as a clarinet/bass clarinet player with local orchestras and on film recording projects.

“Intermission,” a solo exhibition of works by Slater Bradley ’98, was on view at Galerie Lisa Ruyter, Basel, Switzerland, late last year.

Jose L.S. Gamez ’99 was a member of the design team of assemblage-STUDIO, Las Vegas, for the Mesquite Heritage and Art Center in Mesquite, Nevada.

John Hajda ’99 is a visiting assistant professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

An exhibition of new work by Sandeep Mukherjee ’99 was on view last fall at sister, Los Angeles.

Sagar Chavan ’00 works with Frank R. Webb Architects in Culver City, California, and was a member of the project team for Independence Park in Downey, California.
David Montalba ’00 received a 2005 AIA/LA Next Design Award for the Vertical Parcspace Lofts project.

Last year, work by Erin Cosgrove ’01 was shown in “On Imagining Terror: The RAF. An Exhibition” at Kunst-Werke, Berlin, and Landesmuseum Joanneum, Graz, Austria. Her work was also shown in “Van RAF tot Hofstad, Kunste en Terrorisme” at Impakt, the Netherlands.

Justin Goldwater ’01 is working as an animator on the new Richard Linklater film, “A Scanner Darkly,” starring Keanu Reeves.

Los Angeles based PURE Design, formed by Rui Gu ’01, Guoping Shi ’01 and Yingzi Su ’01, won first prize in an invited competition for their design for the Zhuhai Forest Creek Artist Community in China.

Roxanne Tuton Jeppesen ’01 is music coordinator and private teacher in the Sulphur Springs and Saugus school districts in California.

Recent paintings by Heather Brown ’02 and current UCLA art student Jacob Stewart-Halevy were exhibited this past spring at Cirrus Gallery, Los Angeles.

This spring, Tone Nielsen ’02 was among those included in “Rethinking Nordic Colonialism,” a group show of work by international artists on view at the Living Art Museum, Reykjavik, Iceland.

An architectural project designed and completed by Apurva Pande ’02 was featured in Architectural Record under the “emerging architects” section.

“Beautiful Dreams: New Sculpture,” an exhibition of work by Tanya Batura ’03, was on view at Western Project, Culver City, California earlier this year.

A solo exhibition of new oil paintings by Whitney Bedford ’03 was on view last fall at cherrydelosreyes, Los Angeles.
