Mission Statement
- CIP will support the creation, critical analysis, production and documentation of the
performing arts in order to generate new ways of understanding and stimulating diverse
artistic and cultural practices in the U.S. and abroad.
- CIP will serve as a resource for artists, scholars and educators who want to develop
community based, grassroots strategies for thinking about and working with cultural
difference, convergence and fragmentation.
- Through the Center, individuals will participate in and stimulate larger national and
international debates regarding the relationship of the arts to intercultural processes
and transnational pressures.
- As an integral aspect of the Department of World Arts and
Cultures, the Center will investigate and generate new modes for arts education.
