YouTube Media Archive

The youtube channel connects you to media created by and for the ArtsBridge community in Los Angeles through UCLA Arts. Short videos composed by youth, parents, teachers, and UCLA Arts students can be seen and heard in English and/or Spanish. The channel features original Visual Storytelling shorts reflecting different perspectives on urban schooling, arts education, parental involvement, public service, and building vital learning communities. An original ethnographic documentary on the program featuring participants from Dorsey High School and Jordan High School, among other partner schools, is available on the channel (J. Aydin-Ali, 2007, 10 minutes).

Flickr Photo Galleries

The flickr photo gallery shares images from recent and ongoing ArtsBridge projects. Highlights include stills from the visual storytelling workshop series offered by Iris Schneider (LA Times, ret.), with Amy Shimshon-Santo, for participants in ArtsBridge K-20 partnerships. Schneider, an accomplished photojournalist, explains that “photography has been used to encourage understanding, increase awareness, and inspire social change.” The emerging photographers composed of youth, parents, teachers, and UCLA Arts students, focused on the core question: How can we teach understanding by letting people see our own lives, accomplishments, and struggles? The photos are made possible by the generous support of Canon Cameras.
