Testimonies from 2005-2006 ArtsBridge Mentors:
Mentoring for ArtsBridge is a great way to help guide students in the much needed effort to restore arts education in our public schools. As a focused graduate student I spend most of my days making art alone in my studio. ArtsBridge is as essential to the kids benefiting from its great art classes as it is for me to remember for what and for whom I make art in the first place!
Claire Baker, Art Graduate Student ArtsBridge Mentor
“Watching children learn to harness non-verbal communication through lessons taught by ArtsBridge scholars is essential to my practice as a visual artist. My participation in ArtsBridge has reconnected me to the fundamental value of art in society as a kind of creative ritual that can provide anyone, regardless of age or background, with inspiration, knowledge and a well of self-empowerment.”
Annie Lapin, Art Graduate Student ArtsBridge Mentor
“I became involved with ArtsBridge mentoring because it is an important community service oriented program for our students and department, and there is a need for supervision and mentoring of our students in the field especially when they are just beginning teaching. I gain a lot from serving as a mentor because the process informs me of what is needed when I plan my dance teaching course, and clarifies what the values of arts education are in a very real way.”
Angelia Leung, World Arts and Cultures Faculty ArtsBridge Mentor
